Raphael's evolution
The capstone of the Sage's tree: the Great Sage sacrifices Degenerate and becomes Raphael, Lord of Wisdom. A one-minute scene rebuilt shot by shot from episode 35, its conditions, and what Raphael changes.
In episode 35 of the anime, during Rimuru's Harvest Festival, the Great Sage asks the Voice of the World for the right to evolve. It fails, tries again, fails again, ends up sacrificing the Unique skill Degenerate — and becomes Raphael, Lord of Wisdom (智慧之王, Chie no Ō), an Ultimate skill. Great Sage replays that moment in full, and makes it the capstone of its growth tree.
告。ユニークスキル『大賢者』より『世界の言葉』へ誓願。大賢者の進化を申請。 — Koku. Yunīku sukiru "Daikenja" yori "Sekai no Kotoba" e seigan. Daikenja no shinka o shinsei. — "Notice. Unique Skill Great Sage addresses a petition to the Voice of the World. Requesting the evolution of Great Sage."
The scene
One minute, shot by shot from the episode 35 clip: every cut lands at the exact moment it lands in the anime, and every line when it is spoken there. Everything is painted by shader, Japanese included, with characters that write themselves "decoded" as on screen.
| Time | What you see | What you hear |
|---|---|---|
| 0 → 7 s | A diamond, 告, a nebula, a gyroscope iris; the title card 大賢者 / ユニークスキル / "Great Sage"; 大賢者の進化を申請 | The petition to the Voice of the World, then 了 Ryō |
| 7 → 15 s | Starry sky, two cards between arcs: 受理 (accepted), 挑戦 (attempt) | "The request has been accepted." "Great Sage attempts its evolution." |
| 15 → 39 s | The failure loop: vortex, detonation, the screen pulling back, a break, a red 失敗 and FAILURE, 再度 実行… then the screen splitting into a grid, 4×4, 8×8, up to 16×16, turning red and collapsing | "Failed." "Retrying." — five failures shown on screen |
| 39 → 46 s | The machine: a blue sphere, a crown of glyph tiles, constellations, a point of light turning gold | "Degenerate is erased and offered in sacrifice." "With the gift of the Harvest Festival, the evolution is attempted once more." |
| 46 → 53 s | A violet blaze, a tunnel of frames, whiteness, golden cracks, a golden disc, a wheel of glyphs | 成功しました — "Evolution successful." |
| 53 → 61.5 s | The golden diamond; from its heart grows Raphael: a starred golden polyhedron, a counter-rotating cyan dodecahedron, two rings. Then 智慧之王 and ULTIMATE SKILL / RAPHAEL ·LORD OF WISDOM· | "Unique Skill Great Sage has evolved into the Ultimate Skill Raphael, Lord of Wisdom." |
Under the lines runs an original score that fills every gap and ducks by itself whenever the voice speaks; the only placed sound effect is the one on the failures. Subtitles follow your game language.
- The scene takes the whole screen and cannot be interrupted: no Escape, no click, no key. It closes by itself at the end.
- The world keeps running during that minute: the game is not paused.
- Ordinary announcements stay quiet during the ritual. Raphael is granted at 58.8 s, once its name has been spoken.
- The scene only exists in shader rendering; there is no classic version.
The conditions
Raphael's node is the tree's capstone: "Beyond" column, level 50, 40 points. Its conditions are shown in the tree and get ticked off as you play:
| Condition | Threshold |
|---|---|
| Existence value (max EP) | 500,000 |
| Magicule capacity (max) | 50,000 |
| Great Sage | mastered |
| Degenerate | mastered |
| Awakening | True Hero or True Demon Lord |
| Growth tree | every other node bought |
Both numeric thresholds are about capacity, not current reserves: a line never flickers red every time you cast a spell. The server evaluates every line.
What Raphael brings
- A real Ultimate skill in Tensura's registry (
greatsage:raphael), stored and displayed like any Ultimate. It replaces Great Sage and Degenerate, which are consumed at the end of the scene — not at the start: the failures tell why the sacrifice becomes necessary. - Every right of the Sage: Raphael opens the menu, Assess Mode, the remarks, the voice, and satisfies the
needGreatSagegamerule — with nothing to add to the config. - No combat power. That is the mod's charter: the Sage saves you time and trouble, not strength. The improvements planned for Raphael are about the Sage itself (see Roadmap); they are not in the game yet.
With FoxAblaze Ultimate
The FoxAblaze Ultimate addon has its own Raphael, and it does the fusion itself: as soon as Great Sage and Degenerate are mastered, it merges them and removes Great Sage. Great Sage plays along:
- when FoxAblaze grants its Raphael, Great Sage's scene plays on top, without granting anything more;
- the capstone is marked as acquired in the tree, and a Raphael learned again later (reset, command) does not replay the scene;
- FoxAblaze's Raphael counts as Great Sage's for every right of the Sage;
- you will never have two Raphaels: if one is already held, the other is not granted.
FoxAblaze also plays its own declaration (text and English voice). To keep only the scene, turn it off in FoxAblaze's config (playSkillAcquisitionSounds).
Watching the scene again
/sageraphael— the whole scene, as a preview: nothing is granted or removed./sageraphael <seconds>— opens the scene at a given moment, in seconds of the clip (0 to 61.5)./sageraphael 24lands on the grid.
These are client commands: they work without operator rights (see Commands). Careful, the preview cannot be interrupted either.
