Battle Mode

The Great Sage raises your guard for you: it keeps your toggle skills up and recasts the others as soon as their cooldown ends, for as long as the mode lasts.

Battle Mode, added in 0.0.5, hands your guard over to the Great Sage. You pick in advance the skills it should hold; when a fight starts you tell it, and it raises them for you — then keeps them up while you fight. The Sage does not fight for you: it saves you three clicks and constant watching.

Linking skills

In the Sage's menu (G), the Battle Mode page lists your learned skills. A click links or unlinks a skill. Each line says how it will be held:

Label What the Sage does
held Toggle skill: it turns it on and checks it stays on (the game can cut it: damage, magicules running out…).
recast Triggered skill: it recasts it as soon as its cooldown ends.
cannot be held Neither: the line is greyed out and refuses the link.

The list is saved in your client config (battleSkills): no need to edit it by hand.

Raising and lowering the guard

The mode is controlled by voice or by keyboard with /sage (see Voice commands):

Request (examples) Effect
"enable battle mode", "combat mode" Raises the guard
"disable battle mode", "stop battle mode" Lowers it and turns toggle skills off
"toggle battle mode" Switches between the two (0.0.7)
"stop" Lowers the guard (or, with no guard, cancels the current analysis)

Phrasings exist in every recognition language; the full list is in Voice command list.

The rules

  • The server checks everything: a skill you do not own does not join the guard.
  • The guard is re-examined ten times per second.
  • A given skill is never recast more than once every 5 seconds, even if its cooldown is shorter.
  • A skill that does not go on cooldown is not recast in a loop: the Sage suspends it and tells you ("… does not go on cooldown, so battle mode will not recast it"). It stays linked.
  • Death lowers the guard: on respawn, nothing turns itself back on to drain your magicules. Logging out lowers it too.
