Reincarnation
The birth scene that replaces Tensura's screen: the Voice of the World confirms your death, you draw three wishes, the first always grants a Unique skill, then you pick your species. Rules, figure shuffling and settings.
In Tensura: Reincarnated, a new character starts on a screen: you pick your species from a list, and the mod rolls a random Unique skill. Since 0.0.6, Great Sage replaces that screen with a birth: the Voice of the World confirms your death, asks what you want, and you do not answer by clicking — you draw. The world reads the figure and grants you what it sees in it. Then comes the choice of your form.
"You are dead. Do not worry: it is already done."
The scene opens exactly where Tensura would have opened its reincarnation screen, and only if the sageReincarnation gamerule is true (the default). Behind the curtain it drives Tensura's real menu: the species offered are exactly Tensura's, addons included, with nothing to configure.
How it unfolds
| Act | What happens |
|---|---|
| The finding | Darkness, then the Voice: death confirmed, soul captured, memories kept. |
| The request | The world asks for a figure. If it thinks you are taking too long, it presses you. |
| The tracing | You draw with the mouse, in one or several strokes, then validate. |
| The reading | "The world deliberates." The Voice says what it saw in your drawing. |
| The gift | The announcement, timed on the anime: a red band opens, the kanji write themselves one by one, then 獲得 drives the name apart. A Unique skill gets its own reveal: an inverted triangle slammed onto a black screen. |
| ×3 | Request, tracing, reading and gift repeat for the three wishes. |
| The form | The species carousel, then the confirmation. |
| The departure | The Voice lets you go. |
The lines are the Voice's own, never the Sage's: the world speaks here, with its own core on screen, a cyan geodesic sphere. See The Voice of the World.
Drawing
- Several strokes per drawing, as many as you like. Nothing is read before you validate.
- Validate: the Validate button or Enter.
- Clear everything: the Clear button or Delete.
- Remove the last stroke: right-click or Backspace.
- Direction matters for some figures (a stroke that plunges is not a stroke that rises), and so does size: a tiny scribble and a stroke across the whole space each have their own reading.
Choosing your form
After the three wishes, a carousel of cards shows the starting species: the body, the difficulty ("this path is harsh", "this path is gentle"), the magicule and aura ranges, the alignment and the intrinsic skills at birth. Everything is read from the species itself, so an addon species shows up complete. Turn it with the arrow keys, the mouse wheel or a mouse gesture, then confirm in two steps.
The rules of the gift
Three rules are enforced by the server, and nothing is granted outside the scene:
- One wish, one skill. Some Tensura skills teach others the moment you receive them (Danger Sense, Magic Sense, Spatial Motion, Predator…). The world removes those immediately: a wish grants what it grants, the rest is earned by playing.
- The first wish always grants a Unique skill — the one carried by the figure you drew.
- Only one Unique. The second and third wishes grant the figure's minor form: the same character without the rank (often a resistance or an Extra skill). Drawing does not decide whether you get a Unique, but which one.
And a few more guarantees:
- A drawing always gives something. If everything your figure carries is already yours (you drew the same thing twice), the world improvises and draws from elsewhere, at random — never breaking the "one Unique on the first wish, none after" rule.
- The world's error. A few Uniques have a greater form. On the first wish, the world has a 3% chance to "make a mistake" and grant that greater form instead (
reincarnationErrorChance, 0 disables it). You hear it before the name: the Voice issues a warning, notes an anomaly in the grant it can no longer correct, then approves a higher-rank gift, with its own reveal. - The Unique Tensura rolls at first login is suppressed while the gamerule is on: your wishes are your only starting Unique.
- Tensura's reset counter is respected (0.0.7). When the birth closes, Tensura runs its own full draw — bonus Uniques from your resets, locked skills, extra chance — minus the Unique your wish already gave.
- A plain race change (scroll or
/tensura reset race) does not reopen the wishes: you keep your skills and only choose your new form.
Figure shuffling
What a figure is worth is not fixed. Gifts are redistributed between figures as whole bundles (the Unique, its minor form and its greater form stay together), following a secret draw. Drawing recognition does not change — a circle stays a circle —, only its value does. Within one draw, drawing the same figure again gives the same gifts.
The common setting reincarnationShuffle sets the scope of the draw:
| Value | Effect |
|---|---|
PLAYER (default) |
One draw per player and per world, renewed every life: after each complete reincarnation (reset and prestige included), the table changes. A list shared online is worthless, and so are your notes from last life. |
WORLD |
One draw per world, the same for all its players. |
OFF |
The fixed table, identical in every world, without addon Uniques. |
The /sagescene preview draws its own table every time it opens and grants nothing (the world's error happens one time in three there, so you can see it). Operators can display the table in effect for themselves with /greatsage sigils (see Commands).
Addon Uniques
Since 0.0.7, the Unique skills of installed addons join the reincarnation pool. Each forms a bundle with a resistance from the same addon as its minor form (or another one if there is none). With addons, the draw changes the content of the table, not just its order. The name shows with its kanji when the mod knows it.
Not every addon wants its special Uniques (dragon bonds, boss or race skills…) to drop at birth. Two common settings decide:
| Setting | Default | Effect |
|---|---|---|
reincarnationAddonUniques |
TENSURA_LIST |
TENSURA_LIST: only the addon Uniques listed in Tensura's birth list (config/tensura/reincarnation_config.toml, startingSkills and secondSkills entries) — that is where addons put the ones meant to be obtainable at birth. ALL: every Unique of every addon, special ones included. NONE: Tensura's own Uniques only. |
reincarnationExcludedSkills |
trnightmares:sentient |
Skills the birth never gives, whatever the mode. Full ids (mod:skill) or a whole mod (mod:*). Works for Tensura's skills too. |
Date a Slime's angels never join the pool.
Escape, and the original screen
- Escape once shows a warning; a second press within 3 seconds opens Tensura's reincarnation screen, untouched. You cannot go back to the scene for this birth.
- You do not lose your Unique: if no wish was made, Tensura rolls its usual draw when the screen closes.
- For the whole server:
/gamerule sageReincarnation falsegives everyone Tensura's screen back.
Rimuru mode
Tensura's rimuruMode gamerule makes you be born directly as a slime, with Predator, Great Sage and five resistances: there is nothing to wish for. Since 0.0.7, Great Sage still gives it its birth, played shot by shot like episode 1: the sphere, the voice line, the broken kanji, the red band, heat and cold turning into a resistance, the "Failure" wall, Predator's triangle, Sage becoming Great Sage… Each acquisition is spoken by the Voice, chained without clicks; a click shortens a shot once its line is over. Nothing extra is granted (Tensura already gave everything) and the Great Sage stays quiet about those acquisitions for a few minutes. Escape twice closes it. Preview: /sagescene rimuru.
Two looks
When the sageShaderRendering gamerule is true, the birth plays on the Sea of Souls: an endless sea under a violet sky, the world raised as a colossal astrolabe whose heart beats with the voice, all of it reflected in the water. The Voice ripples the surface, each validated wish falls into it as a ring, a gift bursts up as a pillar in the colour of its rank, choosing your species draws a path on the water. The interface turns to violet glass and the ink to pearl and lilac.
With sageShaderRendering false (or in 0.0.6), the original scene: a cosmic field, the Voice's cyan geodesic sphere, and fine-lined cards.
Two secrets (only read if you are looking for them)
- The code. During species selection, an old video game code typed on the movement keys (up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right — arrow keys work too) makes the Voice stutter: the picture tears, the carousel vanishes, and a drawing decides your species. It is always a starting species, never an evolution.
- Folly. The world recognises a certain drawn "joke", and it is not amused. Everything granted so far is taken back, the remaining wishes never happen, the species is imposed — goblin — and you are left with a single skill, the most useless one in the catalogue. Draw seriously.
