Getting an Angel

How do I get an Angel in survival?

By purifying a Qlipha Crystal. Bosses (Ender Dragon, Wither, Warden, Elder Guardian, the Spirits, about fifteen Tensura bosses) have a 1% chance to drop one. Implant it in creatures and kill them: each host makes the crystal purer. At 100%, you get the real Sephira Crystal. The step-by-step is in Getting started.

I absorbed a Qlipha Crystal and died. Is that normal?

Yes. A Qlipha Crystal is the impure form of the Sephira: absorbing it drives you mad and kills you, even with a Totem of Undying. You have to hold right-click for two seconds to absorb it, precisely to avoid accidents. A Qlipha Crystal is implanted in a creature (right-click it), never in a player.

My Sephira Crystal won't absorb.

If the message says "That power is already yours", you already have that Angel: the crystal isn't consumed, so you can give it to someone else.

Can I carry several Angels?

Yes. Each crystal grants its own Angel. Put them in several skill slots; the scroll wheel switches between them in the mode wheel.

Where is Kotori's / Tohka's / the Yamai sisters' crystal?

The Gevurah crystal (Camael, Kotori's Angel) exists, but Kotori isn't a boss yet: her Qlipha Crystal only drops from the bosses' common roll. Hod (Raphael) and Malkuth (Sandalphon) don't have an Angel yet. See Roadmap.

Using an Angel

The G key does nothing.

The wheel only opens if one of the mod's Angels sits in a slot of your active Tensura preset and is actually learned. Otherwise it shows "No Angel with several modes in your active ability preset." Also check that G isn't rebound or conflicting in Options › Controls. See Angel Mode Wheel.

A mode tells me the Angel "isn't there".

Some Angels must be manifested first (Manifestation mode): Michael's key, Zadkiel's puppet, Gabriel's organ, Haniel's broom, Rasiel's book. Metatron, on the other hand, calls its crown by itself.

I can't store or drop my key / flintlock / Camael.

That's intended: Angel weapons are manifestations. They can't be put in any chest, can't be dropped and don't fall on death. Send the Angel away with its Manifestation; call it again and the weapon comes back. See Michael (the Key), Camael (Axe and Cannon), Zaphkiel's Flintlock and Zaphkiel's Musket.

My time bar won't go past 100%.

Zaphkiel, Emperor of Eternity's time refills on its own up to 100%, never beyond. To go higher (up to 1500%), you have to take it from others: the City of Devouring Time and Devouring Shadow. See The Time Bar.

Some Angels don't shout their name.

Not every voice line is recorded yet. In the meantime, a placeholder sound plays instead: nothing is broken. See Roadmap.

Spirits and the world

I can't find any sky sanctum.

That's normal: they're extremely rare (roughly one per 5,000-block square, per Spirit), float above Y 214, and nothing leads up to them from the ground. With operator rights: /locate structure dateaslime:origami_sanctum (or nia, kurumi, yoshino, mukuro, natsumi, miku). See The Sky Sanctums.

Do Spirits spawn on their own in the world?

No: only in their sanctum, where the Spirit comes back spiritRespawnMinutes minutes (180 by default) after her defeat. Elsewhere, you summon them with /summon dateaslime:<name>. See The Spirits.

A Spirit nearly killed me in one hit!

"Nearly" is the word: no Spirit hit can take more than a fraction of your max health, a fraction that grows with the phases of the fight. They kill by chaining. See The Spirits.

Can I chain a Spirit boss and drag it to the Extractor?

No: their power shatters the Sealing Chains. The chains are for bringing a player who carries a Sephira.

Servers

Lataibu and Megiddo are wrecking my spawn.

Turn them off: /gamerule lataibuTerrain false and /gamerule megiddoTerrain false. See Gamerules.

Does the server need PlayerAnimator?

No, only the clients do. The server needs Date a Slime, Tensura and their libraries. See Dependencies and compatibility.

Do I need Great Sage?

No. The two mods are independent and compatible. With Great Sage, the Great Sage announces the Angels with their Japanese title.

How do I test the Extractor alone?

/gamerule extractorEscort 0, and get yourself captured in survival (a player in creative is never taken). Remember to reset the value afterwards. See Sephira Extractor.
