Qlipha Crystals
The impure form of the sephirot, the only one found in survival: 1 % from a boss. Absorbing it kills; you must plant it in creatures and purify it host after host until it becomes a Sephira Crystal.
反霊結晶〈クリファ〉 — the Qlipha Crystal is the impure, inverted form of a sephira. It is the only way to earn an Angel in survival: a boss drops one every now and then, but absorbing it as it is kills you. You have to filter it through a long line of bodies — plant it in a creature, slay it, take it back a little clearer, start again — until it turns into a real
Sephira Crystal.

The item is a flat sprite: the six-pointed star a stellated octahedron draws when seen tip-on, violet-black, with the glow of its own Demon King. It has the enchanted shimmer, does not stack (1 per slot) and survives fire and lava.
Getting a Qlipha Crystal
From a boss, one time in a hundred
When a creature on the "sephira bearers" list dies, it has a 1 % chance to drop a Qlipha Crystal at 0 % purity. A Warden heartbeat rings out and players within 64 blocks read in chat: "Something black falls from the body - the Qlipha of Demon King". The dropped crystal never despawns and cannot be destroyed (no fire, lava or explosion).
Which one? A Spirit drops her own: Origami the Keter one, Nia Chokmah, Kurumi Binah, Yoshino Chesed, Mukuro Tiferet, Natsumi Netzach, Miku Yesod. Every other boss rolls one at random among the eight. Gevurah has no Spirit boss: it only comes from that random roll.
The bearers (default list):
| Origin | Creatures |
|---|---|
| Minecraft | Ender Dragon, Wither, Warden, Elder Guardian |
| Date a Slime | the seven Spirits: |
| Tensura | tensura:charybdis, tensura:orc_disaster, tensura:elemental_colossus, tensura:metal_slime, tensura:hinata_sakaguchi, tensura:gazel_dwargo, tensura:shizu, tensura:mai_furuki, tensura:akash, tensura:ifrit, tensura:sylphide, tensura:undine, tensura:war_gnome, tensura:arch_daemon |
The list is a data tag, dateaslime:sephira_bearers (entity type): a server can add bosses from other mods with a datapack, without touching the mod.
The chance is set by the qliphaDropChance gamerule (a percentage, 1 by default; 0 = no crystal ever drops, 100 = every time). See Gamerules.
By command
/give @s dateaslime:qlipha_keter
The crystal arrives at 0 % purity.
Don't absorb it
What happens then:
- The crystal is consumed. Players within 48 blocks read "Player absorbed a Qlipha Crystal".
- For 7 seconds you are frozen: you cannot move, strike or mine, and even a fall or an elytra flight is stopped dead. A cutscene plays on screen — cracks, black veins growing from the centre, a wireframe stellated octahedron turning and swelling, the camera rolling, then the Demon King's colour drowns everything.
- You die: "Player lost all reason to a Qlipha Crystal". The blow ignores armour, enchantments, resistances and effects, and a Totem of Undying will not save you.
Letting go of the click before the two seconds are up cancels the gesture. The tooltip says it in red: "Absorbing this will kill you. Put it in a body instead."
Implanting it in a creature
With the crystal in hand, right-click a creature: it becomes a host, a miniboss carrying the crystal's Demon King (boss bar, eight times its health, three times its damage, the attacks of the inverted Angel — full details on
Qlipha Hosts (Demon Kings)).
- The crystal leaves your hand; the host now carries it, with its purity and host count.
- The host is healed to full, no longer despawns and targets you.
- Players within 64 blocks read "Demon King 〈Creature〉 takes the crystal. Kill it to get the crystal back."
- Not on a player: "A person is not a filter. It would only kill them too."
- Not on a host: "That body already carries one."
When the host dies — by your hand or any other way — the crystal bursts out of its body one notch purer, and it too never despawns or gets destroyed. Players within 48 blocks read "Demon King lets go - the crystal is X% pure (+Y%)".
Purity
Purity is counted in thousandths (0 to 1,000) and can be read two ways:
- the tooltip: "Demon King: name", then "Purity" followed by a 20-segment bar and the whole percentage, then "N hosts consumed" from the first host on;
- the bar under the icon, like a durability bar, in the Demon King's colour: you can tell where each crystal stands at a glance in a chest.
What a host is worth
The gain depends on the body's EP (Tensura's total energy), as a square root:
gain (‰) =
qliphaHostGain× √(EP ÷ 2,000), rounded, clamped between 2 ‰ and 200 ‰
With the qliphaHostGain gamerule at its default (10):
| Host EP | Gain | Hosts for 100 % |
|---|---|---|
| 1,400 (a zombie) | 0.8 % | about 125 |
| 2,000 | 1 % | 100 |
| 20,000 | 3.2 % | about 32 |
| 200,000 | 10 % | 10 |
| 1,600,000 (a Charybdis) | 20 % (cap) | 5 |
A creature with almost no EP still gives 0.2 %, and no host, however huge, gives more than 20 %. Raising qliphaHostGain shortens the whole loop accordingly (within those bounds).
At 100 %
Once purity reaches 1,000 ‰, the host that dies no longer gives back a Qlipha but the Sephira Crystal of the same sephira. A beacon powers up and nearby players read "The crystal is pure. The Sephira of Keter is yours to take." All that is left is to absorb it — safely this time: see
Sephira Crystals.
Tips
- Aim high: ten hosts at 200,000 EP are worth a hundred zombies. Tensura's powerful creatures refine far faster.
- Prepare the arena before implanting: the host gets up at full health, with eight times its HP, and comes straight for you.
- Nothing is lost: a host doesn't despawn when you walk away, its state survives saving, and the crystal it drops neither burns nor vanishes.
- Keep your crystals in a chest rather than on your hotbar: one right-click held by mistake costs your life.
