Natsumi Kyouno
The Spirit of Netzach and her broom Haniel: a game of hide-and-seek where she melts into a herd, turns her foes into rabbits, freezes them in her mirror and, at the end, copies other Angels.
Natsumi Kyouno, the Spirit of Netzach, is a boss who wields
Haniel, the Forgery Witch's broom. Her fight is a game of hide-and-seek: she melts into a herd of real animals, turns her foes into rabbits, freezes them in her mirror, and when she is at the end of her rope, switches Haniel from one Angel to another. 5,500 health — little for a Spirit — and almost nothing up close: what protects her is that you never know where she is.
Finding her
- By command:
/summon dateaslime:natsumi. - In her sanctum: a witch's clearing floating in the Overworld sky (placed at Y 222, arena around Y 262). A mossy meadow inlaid with Haniel's star, a hedge of dark oak and pumpkins, a colossal witch hat to the north (the landmark you see from the ground), six standing mirrors, two huts, a cellar, dangling roots, and three islets each with a broom planted in them. Only one per 352-chunk square (about 5,630 blocks).
/locate structure dateaslime:natsumi_sanctumfinds it. See The Sky Sanctums.
In her sanctum, Natsumi awakens about ten seconds after the area loads, is brought back if she strays more than 72 blocks (or falls more than 24 blocks), and returns 180 minutes after she was last seen alive (spiritRespawnMinutes rule, see Gamerules).
Behavior
- On first contact, she calls her broom, which rises beside her.
- She keeps to mid-range (11 blocks, 6 while disguised): far enough for the mirror to reach, close enough to dive.
- She nullifies abnormal conditions and resists magic, spiritual and physical damage. Some affinities get through better than others. Like every Spirit, she also resists the changes of Haniel's mirror.
- Like every Spirit, she reads how you fight, adapts to repeated hits, can be staggered and enrages after six minutes. See
The Spirits.
Attacks
Base damage, before armor, resistances and the Spirits' damage cap.
| Attack | Phase | Damage | Cooldown | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dive | I | melee hit (30) | 1.5 s | Up to 20 blocks: she shoots through her target on her broom, strikes it and knocks it aside. Her ordinary attack. |
| Mirror curse | I | — | 18 s | Up to 24 blocks, against a player: the green beam lands, and you are a rabbit, slow and powerless (Slowness II, Weakness III) for 10 s — 4 s if you carry an Angel. |
| Masquerade | I | — | 35 s | She takes the look of an animal (sheep, pig, cow, chicken or rabbit) and four real animals of the same kind appear around her (six from phase II); she slips in among them. Twenty seconds at most. |
| Stasis | II | — | 30 s | Up to 16 blocks: the mirror freezes you for 4 s, blind and powerless. She likes to use it on groups. |
| Kaleidoscope | III | 4 to 27 | 5 s | Up to 30 blocks: Haniel becomes in turn Zadkiel (five ice needles in a fan, 4 each, which freeze), Camael (a crescent of flame, about 23) and Michael (three keys, 18 each, plus a 3-block-radius seal that closes under your feet in 1.1 s, 27). |
The damage of the Dive, the crescent and the keys follows her attack strength: it goes up by half when she is enraged.
The masquerade
This is the heart of the fight. She uses it more readily when she is losing health fast, or below half health: it is how she runs and catches her breath. While disguised, she doesn't attack. And her disguise is perfect: on screen, you see a real animal in her place.
But the forgery is fragile: a single hit from a living attacker gives her away ("Caught! Natsumi drops the disguise"), and the whole herd dissolves at once. The herd animals drop no loot and no experience.
How to beat her
- Hit the herd. One hit is enough to unmask her: an area attack, or several players each striking an animal, finds her in no time.
- Don't give her time to breathe: the masquerade lasts up to twenty seconds if nobody finds her.
- Carrying an Angel cuts the rabbit curse from 10 s to 4 s.
- Spread out from phase II: the stasis likes groups.
- In phase III, keep moving: Kaleidoscope comes back every 5 s, and its Michael copy drops a seal under your feet — get out before it closes.
- She has little health and modest armor for a Spirit: when she is in the open, hit hard and together. Taking 7% of her health in three seconds (385 health) staggers her for 1.5 s.
- No point trying to turn her into an animal with your own Haniel: Spirits resist.
Loot
- 500 experience points.
- Qlipha Crystal of Netzach (Baal's gem), a one-in-a-hundred chance by default (
qliphaDropChancerule); it never despawns and doesn't burn. It is the road to Haniel in survival: see
Qlipha Crystals. - The sanctum's chests (three): pumpkin pies, glass, emeralds, amethyst shards, glow berries, ender pearls, bottles o' enchanting, diamonds; and often, on top of that, a long potion of invisibility, golden apples or a carved pumpkin.
