Haniel

The Forgery Witch, Natsumi's Angel: a flying broom, a mirror that turns monsters into harmless animals or locks them away, a perfect disguise, and the Kaleidoscope that copies someone else's Angel.

Early access Skill v0.0.2 7 min read

Haniel (贋造魔女〈ハニエル〉), the Forgery Witch, is Natsumi Kyouno's Angel and the seventh sephirah, Netzach. It is a tall witch's broom with a mirror caught in its bristles: you ride it to fly, and the mirror's green light marks whatever it is about to change. Haniel destroys nothing — it deceives, disguises, locks away and copies. It is an Ultimate skill with six modes.

Getting the Angel

  • By command: /give @s dateaslime:sephira_netzach, then right-click with the crystal to absorb the Angel. If you already have it, the crystal refuses and you keep it. See Sephira Crystals.
  • In survival: Natsumi can drop her own inverted gem, the Qlipha Crystal of Netzach (the Demon King Baal's) — a one-in-a-hundred chance by default. Other major bosses drop a random one. Absorbed as it is, a Qlipha gem kills: it must first be purified through a series of hosts. See Qlipha Crystals.

How to use it

Haniel goes into one of Tensura's skill slots and fires with that slot's key. Switch modes with Tensura's mode keys, or hold G to open the mode wheel. Every mode fires on a single press.

Start with Manifestation: the broom appears standing on your left and follows you. Every other mode needs it ("Haniel is not here."), and the refusal happens before any magicules are taken. Targeted modes take the visible living being you are looking at, up to 32 blocks away.

The modes

The broom appears standing on your left and glides along beside you. Press again to send it away (which also brings you down if you were riding it). It is invulnerable, leaves when you die, and doesn't survive a disconnect: call it again when you come back.

  • Key: press
  • Cost: 350 MP to call it, nothing to send it away
  • Cooldown: 1 s

One press and you are sitting on the broom, which lies flat beneath you and takes off. You fly freely, like in creative but a little faster. Touching the ground doesn't bring you down: to get off, press again. As you dismount you glide for 3 s with Slow Falling and the fall is cushioned, even from very high up.

If your magicules drop below 25, the broom brings you down on its own ("Out of magicules — the broom comes down."). You also come down if the broom is sent away or if you disconnect. A player in creative keeps their normal flight when dismounting.

  • Key: press (mount or dismount)
  • Cost: 150 MP to mount, then 25 MP per second in the air
  • Cooldown: 1 s

Aim at a creature: you take its appearance for 5 minutes. Every player who sees you sees a real creature of that kind in your place. Monsters stop targeting you, except the one you just hit.

The disguise hangs by a thread: any hit dealt or taken breaks it ("The forgery breaks."), like Natsumi's sneeze. With no target — or aiming at a player — you take back your own appearance. Impossible while someone else's mirror has turned you into a rabbit.

  • Key: press
  • Cost: 800 MP
  • Cooldown: 20 s
  • Duration: 5 min

Aim at a target: the mirror's green beam settles on it, then, half a second later, it changes.

  • A creature becomes a harmless animal — chicken, rabbit, pig, sheep, cow or frog, always the same one for a given creature — for 30 s, then turns back into exactly what it was. The animal drops no loot and no experience: killed in that form, the original creature is gone and leaves nothing.
  • A player becomes a rabbit, slow and powerless (Slowness II, Weakness III), for 15 s — 6 s if they carry an Angel. They can't undo it themselves.

Resist (creatures): Spirits, anything carrying an Angel, and anything with more than 150 max health ("… resists the mirror."). The cooldown applies even if the target resists.

  • Key: press
  • Cost: 2,500 MP
  • Cooldown: 30 s
  • Duration: 30 s (creature), 15 s or 6 s (player)

Aim at a creature: it goes into the mirror, in stasis, out of the world. The mirror holds three creatures ("… is in the mirror (1/3)."). Press while aiming at nothing: the last one locked away comes back out 2.5 blocks in front of you, for free.

What the mirror holds follows you everywhere: it survives death, respawning and disconnecting. Players can't be locked inside, and the same creatures that resist Transformation resist here. The cooldown applies even if the target resists.

  • Key: press
  • Cost: 3,000 MP to lock away, nothing to release
  • Cooldown: 45 s to lock away, 1 s to release
  • Capacity: 3 creatures

Aim at someone who carries an Angel — a player or a Spirit —: Haniel becomes a copy of it for 90 s. The copied Angel joins your skills, strengths and flaws included (copying Zaphkiel means paying in time like its wielder). When the 90 s are up, it leaves, even if you logged out in the meantime.

Copyable: Metatron, Michael, Zaphkiel, Camael, Rasiel, Zadkiel and Gabriel. Not Haniel itself, nor an Angel you already have, and only one copy at a time. If the target carries nothing copyable: "Nothing here that Kaleidoscope can copy." — and no cooldown is applied.

  • Key: press
  • Cost: 8,000 MP
  • Cooldown: 5 min (only if the copy took)
  • Duration: 90 s

Mode summary

Mode Cost Cooldown Effect
Manifest 350 MP (sending away is free) 1 s calls or dismisses the broom
Broom Flight 150 MP + 25 MP/s 1 s free flight on the broom
Mimicry 800 MP 20 s a creature's appearance for 5 min; monsters ignore you
Transformation 2,500 MP 30 s creature into a harmless animal for 30 s, player into a rabbit for 15 s
Mirror Prison 3,000 MP (release: free) 45 s (release: 1 s) locks up to 3 creatures away in stasis
Kaleidoscope 8,000 MP 5 min copies the target's Angel for 90 s

Locks and limits

  • Everything except Manifest needs the broom out.
  • Resisting Transformation and the mirror: Spirits, Angel carriers and anything with more than 150 max health. A player carrying an Angel is only a rabbit for 6 s, and no player ever goes into the mirror.
  • Mimicry drops at the first hit dealt or taken, and ends when you disconnect.
  • Flight costs 25 MP every second: 1,500 MP per minute in the air.
  • Kaleidoscope only copies one Angel at a time, and never one you already have.

Tips

  • Moving a villager or a tamed animal: lock it in the mirror, walk (or fly) to your destination, and release it by aiming at nothing. It comes out just as it went in.
  • Defusing a dangerous monster: Transformation turns a creeper into a harmless animal for 30 s. But don't finish it off in that form if you want its loot.
  • Crossing a monster camp disguised as one of them — as long as nobody strikes.
  • Kaleidoscope on a Spirit: against Mukuro Hoshimiya, borrow Michael for the fight.
  • Flying far takes a big magicule pool: keep an eye on the gauge, the broom sets you down gently when it runs dry.
