Getting started
Install Date a Slime, get your first Angel (in survival or by command), equip it, switch modes, and know where to go next.
Just installed Date a Slime and want to hold your first Angel? This guide covers installation, the two ways to get an Angel — the long survival road and the command shortcut —, your first steps with it, and what awaits you in the world afterwards.
1. Install
You need Minecraft 1.21.1 with NeoForge, Tensura: Reincarnated and its libraries (ManasCore, Architectury, GeckoLib), plus PlayerAnimator on the client. Drop the Date a Slime jar into the mods folder of the client and the server. Version details are in Dependencies and compatibility.
2. Get an Angel
An Angel is always obtained the same way: you absorb a
Sephira Crystal with a right-click. The gem goes in, the Angel is yours. If you already have it, the crystal stays in your hand ("That power is already yours.").
The survival road
- Defeat bosses. Every boss on a specific list (Ender Dragon, Wither, Warden, Elder Guardian, the seven Spirits, about fifteen Tensura bosses) has a 1% chance to drop a
Qlipha Crystal — the impure form. A Spirit drops the one of her own Sephira. - Whatever you do, don't absorb it. A Qlipha Crystal kills whoever absorbs it, totem or not.
- Implant it in a creature (right-click it): it becomes a
host, a miniboss carrying a Demon King. Kill it: the crystal comes back, a little purer. - Repeat. The more EP the host has, the more the crystal purifies: count around a hundred ordinary monsters, far fewer with big game.
- At 100%, the host drops the real Sephira Crystal. Absorb it.
It's long, on purpose: an Angel is an Ultimate skill.
The shortcut (creative or operator)
/give @s dateaslime:sephira_keter
Replace keter with chokmah, binah, chesed, gevurah, tiferet, netzach or yesod. The full table is in Useful commands.
| Crystal | Angel | Spirit |
|---|---|---|
| Keter | Origami | |
| Chokmah | Nia | |
| Binah | Kurumi | |
| Chesed | Yoshino | |
| Gevurah | Kotori | |
| Tiferet | Mukuro | |
| Netzach | Natsumi | |
| Yesod | Miku |
3. Equip the Angel
An Angel is a Tensura Ultimate skill. Open your Tensura skill menu, put the Angel in a slot of your active preset, and use that slot's key like any other skill.
- The first mode is always Manifestation: it calls the Angel (Metatron's crown, Michael's key, Zaphkiel's clock…). A second press sends it away.
- Depending on the Angel, the other modes either call it on their own (Metatron's crown) or need it to be manifested already (Michael's key, Zadkiel's puppet, Gabriel's organ…): manifest it first.
- Every mode costs magicules; many have a cooldown, never longer than a minute.
4. Switch modes
Hold G: the mode wheel opens with every mode of the Angel, its cost and its cooldown. Aim, release, done. The scroll wheel switches Angels if you carry several. Tensura's usual mode keys work too.
5. Good first tries
Metatron — the most direct: call the crown, then try Mal'akh to fly.
Michael — Segva on a door or a chest, then Lataibu to open it again.
Zaphkiel, Emperor of Eternity — the richest: sixteen modes, two guns and a
time bar to watch.
Rasiel — not a weapon but an encyclopedia: open the blank page and write.
6. What next?
- The Spirits. Seven bosses who wield their own Angel and learn how you fight:
The Spirits. They live in sky sanctums, very rare and perched at the very top of the world — bring a way to fly. - The cathedral. A gothic church generated in plains and forests, with the Sephira Extractor at the back of the choir: The Extractor Cathedral.
- The ritual. On a server, a group can tear an Angel out of another player: Extraction Ritual, with the
Sealing Chains to drag them there.
