Cryogenic Element
Ice: freezes, slows, extinguishes; bane of fire creatures.
The Cryogenic Element is ice. It hits a little softer than fire, but every blow freezes and slows its target and puts out whatever burns. Against fire creatures it becomes one of the deadliest elements: its damage doubles. In a Burst or clung to a block, it freezes the water around.
Generate Cryogenic ElementIn a volley
A cryogenic element that hits a creature:
- puts it out if it was burning;
- freezes it like powder snow (frosted screen, and it stays frozen for a while);
- gives it Slowness II for 4 s.
A core hits harder and longer: Slowness lasts 3 s + 1 s per step of strength (square root of the number of merged elements), and rises to Slowness III from 3 steps (cores of 7 elements or more), Slowness IV from 6 steps.
Against a fire-immune creature (Blaze, Ghast, Magma Cube, Strider…), damage is doubled: an arrow then deals 10.2 at SCA 1.
Burst Element
Present in a Burst (at least one fifth of the elements), it freezes water: every open-air water source in a disc around the blast point (the blast radius, 8 blocks at most) turns to ice.
| Mixed with | Reaction | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Aqueous | Glacier | long freeze, Slowness IV 8 s, water freezes |
| Thermal | They counter each other | damage ×0.3 |

Adhere
The aimed target (24 blocks) is frozen and slowed as if by a blow one and a half times stronger: Slowness II 5 s for one element, Slowness III 6 s for two, Slowness IV 9 s for four.
With no creature in sight, the element freezes water around the block you look at (24 blocks), in a radius of 2 blocks + 1 per element. It always succeeds on a block: it never turns back to you in that case.
With no target and no block, you are put out and thawed, and gain Fire Resistance for 5 s + 2.5 s per element.
In Grand Arts
When cryogenic dominates the cores, the Grand Art takes the epithet Frost: Frost Pillar, Frost Meteor, Frost Tempest, Frost Dome, Frost Rain. A Frost Tempest freezes everything it pulls in. See Merge Element and Grand Arts.
