Coat of Midnight (Kirito)

The Coat of Midnight is the outfit of Aincrad's Black Swordsman: a long black leather coat with a high collar, fitted at the waist, trimmed with silver-grey, whose split back opens into two tails that fly behind you as you run. It is not knight armor but leather from a boss drop: diamond protection, in silence.

Pieces

No knockback resistance. No helmet: Kirito fights bareheaded, so your head slot stays free.

These are the values of diamond armor (minus the helmet); the difference is the repair, done with leather on the anvil.

Obtaining

No recipe yet: all three pieces are in the Combat creative tab, or through /give @s slimeartonline:kirito_coat_chestplate (and kirito_coat_leggings, kirito_coat_boots).

What each piece draws

• Coat: the coat over the torso, the high flared collar open over a black t-shirt, the belt, the leather baldric crossing the chest from the right shoulder to the left hip, the long cuffed sleeves, the black fingerless gloves, a small silver pauldron on the left shoulder, and the two tails at the back.
• Trousers: the black trousers and the front and side panels of the coat, which follow the legs instead of passing through them.
• Boots: black boots plated with metal.

Features

• Two articulated tails: each half of the split back has its own chain. The wind is the same for both, but each is pushed aside only by its own leg: as you walk, the leg swinging back lifts its tail, the other hangs, and the slit opens. Being heavy leather, they flutter and lift less than a cape. Both tails belong to the coat (chestplate).
• Silent: being leather, it does not clank as you walk, unlike the knight armors. It goes on with the sound of leather armor.
• Not fire-resistant: thrown into lava, it burns like any ordinary item.
• No set bonus.
