Sword Skills
The sword techniques from SAO's other games, launched with one key or by saying their name.
Before the Underworld, there were Aincrad and ALfheim. Sword Skills come from those other Sword Art Online games: they are not Sacred Arts, but techniques belonging to the sword you hold. No System Call, no Sacred Power, no authority: weapon in hand, a key or a name is enough.
The skills
| Skill | Required sword(s) | Strikes | Damage | Cooldown |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 16, in an area in front of you | 80 % of the sword per strike, 160 % the last | 20 s | ||
| 11, on a single target | 5 × 10, then 20 | 25 s |
Launching them
The X key
One key for every skill (Sword Skill in the controls, rebindable): what you hold decides which one fires. With no skill sword in hand, it does nothing. See Controls.
The name, in chat
Simply type the name in chat, without System Call:
Starburst Stream
Mother's Rosario
The message is not broadcast to the whole server: like an incantation, only players within 24 blocks read it. If the sword is not in hand or is cooling down, nothing fires (Mother's Rosario says so above the hotbar).
The name, by voice
- "Mother's Rosario" can be said on its own, like a weapon art: the microphone hears it even outside an incantation.
- "Starburst Stream" is only picked up by the microphone, in this version, inside an open incantation: say "System Call, Starburst Stream", or use the key instead.
See Voice recognition.
Shared rules
- Every strike counts: the target gets no invulnerability break between strikes, even a few tenths of a second apart.
- Heaviness: after the skill, one second of Slowness III — you don't recover from such an assault right away.
- Breaking off: if the sword leaves your hand (or either of the two for Starburst Stream), the skill stops; the cooldown, however, has already been taken.
- Cooldown: it shows on the sword in your hotbar, like an Ender Pearl's.
- Your own pets are never hit.
- Damage follows the server's
damageMultipliersetting (Configuration).
