Time-Splitting Sword

Bercouli's weapon, once the hand of the great System Clock: its cuts linger in the future, and reach into the past.

In development Weapon v0.0.1 4 min read

The Time-Splitting Sword belongs to Bercouli Synthesis One, commander of the Integrity Knights, and is the oldest of all Divine Objects: it was once the hand of the great System Clock. Heavy, dark grey and covered in old scratches, it cuts time itself. Its Enhance Armament "cuts the future": your strokes linger in the air and strike whatever walks into them later. Its Release Recollection "cuts the past": a giant dial turns backwards, and the blows you already dealt strike again.

Getting the sword

No recipe or loot yet: the sword is in the Combat tab of the creative inventory, or given with /give @s slimeartonline:time_splitting_sword.

Stats

Value
Attack damage 10 (the heaviest Divine Object)
Attack speed 1.4 hits per second
Durability unbreakable (cannot be repaired)
Enchantability 12
Fire resistant yes
Carried scabbard at the left hip, R to draw

Its tooltip: "Divine Object · Priority 49", the highest in the mod. Its arts need an Object Control Authority of 49 (Enhance Armament) and 59 (Release Recollection). See Divine Objects and Armament Full Control.

The time log

While the sword is in your hotbar, it remembers the last 30 seconds:

  • every half-second, the position of each creature within 32 blocks of you;
  • each sword stroke you make with the blade in hand (24 at most), even into empty air.

This is where the Release Recollection fetches the past. A sword left deep in your inventory records nothing.

Armament Full Control

With the sword in your main hand, say or type the art, no System Call.

Incantation: Enhance Armament — OCA 49 or more.

A bell, a resonance: for 12 s, every stroke (left click, hit or miss) leaves in the air, 2.2 blocks in front of your eyes, a crescent rift that keeps its force. The strokes cross: a backhand after each forehand, sometimes an almost flat cut or a rising one.

Each rift lives 4 s. Whatever touches it is struck (once each) and held for a moment; at 3.6 s it snaps shut and whatever is inside takes one and a half times the blow.

Value
Art duration 12 s
Rift crescent of 2.2-block radius, lives 4 s
Contact 5 × power (once per creature), Slowness II 1.5 s
Snap (3.6 s) 7.5 × power to whatever is inside
Cooldown 14 s, counted from the incantation
Spares you and your allies
Gain +2 OCA XP

Sow rifts across your opponent's path: they cannot advance without cutting themselves, and the snap punishes anyone who lingers.

Incantation: Release Recollection — OCA 59 or more.

The bell rings; a giant dial of 10-block radius opens under your feet (a second one, upright, behind you), its hands spin backwards faster and faster and the ticking races.

  1. Marks (0.7 s). The 16 nearest enemies within 28 blocks are marked: where each one stood ten seconds ago, a graduated oval appears with golden sand flowing upward. Marked enemies are held by time (Slowness III) until the final cut.
  2. Replayed strokes (1.1 s to 2.75 s). Up to 12 of your strokes from the last 30 seconds replay in place, one every 0.15 s: each strikes whatever stands there now.
  3. Echoes cut (2.05 s, 2.5 s, 3 s). Three times, every mark is cut: the marked creature is wounded wherever it is.
  4. XII (4.05 s). The hands meet and the final cut splits time before you: it strikes whatever stands in a wide 18-block cone, whatever stood there in the last 30 seconds, and every marked enemy.
Value
Marks 16 enemies max, 28 blocks, their position 10 s ago
Replayed strokes 12 max, 5 × power each (once per creature)
Echoes cut 3 × (4 × power) to each marked enemy, up to 64 blocks
Final cut 12 × power, 18-block cone ahead, present and past, knockback
Duration 5.5 s
Cooldown 90 s (shared by both arts)
Spares you and your allies
Gain +6 OCA XP

At OCA 59 (power 1.59), a marked enemy takes at least 3 × 6.4 and then 19 from the final cut — a blow that can be neither parried nor dodged, since it has already happened.

Tips

  • Keep the sword in your hotbar for the whole fight, even while fighting with something else: otherwise the log stays empty.
  • Swing a lot before the Release Recollection, even into the air around your enemy: every stroke will be replayed.
  • Running away does not help against the final cut: anything that passed through the cone in the last 30 seconds is hit too.
